MMMM, well Kurt Thomas usually matches up against San Antonio Spurs’ Tim Duncan in the playoffs and frustrates Duncan, so the Spurs decided if you can't beat ‘em join ‘em.
The Spurs sent underachieving Francisco Elson, a three-point shooter in Brent Barry, and a first round pick to the Sonics for Kurt Thomas.
Thomas was acquired by Seattle for two first-round draft picks, a second-round pick, and $8 million from Phoenix.
Up until the trade Thomas was averaging 7.5 PPG and 8.8 RPG.
Thomas is sure to give San Antonio a much needed defensive presence besides Duncan. The 13-year veteran poses a great low post defensive threat and a good midrange game that is sure to give the defending champions a boost.
This is the second move made by the Spurs in the last month. Earlier in February, San Antonio signed G Damon Stoudemire as a result of Tony Parker's injuries.
Head coach Gregg Popovich will be most pleased as his team gains a big defensive upgrade in Kurt Thomas.

I like this pickup even though it's another old veteran for the Spurs. I think Brent Barry will be missed in the playoffs, but they still have Finley, Stoudamire, and Horry to knock down the threes.
