It is a testament to the ability, greatness and marketability of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal that every time we write off their rivalry as dead, outdated and unimportant, there usually comes a match that so captures the imagination and that is so precariously poised, that the doubters are disciplined and the naysayers made to say anything but no.
One such match is the coming Australian Open 2012 semifinal between these two wonderful players.
Roger Federer hasn't lost a tour level match since losing in the semis of the US Open last year to Novak Djokovic, while Rafael Nadal hasn't defeated a top four player since his four-set victory over Andy Murray in the semis of last year's US Open.
Coming into this match, the players are brilliantly poised. Nadal enters the contest following the most spirited display (vs. Berdych) seen from him in months, while Federer comes in on the back of one of the most clinical demolition jobs (vs. Del Potro) we will see all year.
Who is the favorite for their semifinal clash? Is it Federer or is it Nadal? And why?
