San Francisco 49ers Playoffs: The Fumble Felt Around the Bay

The San Francisco 49ers' Super Bowl run came to an end on Sunday night.

There was one player that got pointed the finger—Kyle Williams.

You cannot put the blame on one player. Football is a team sport. You win as a team, you lose as a team. Just because he fumbled does not mean he lost us the game.

So let's say he did not fumble the ball. Does this mean we would have scored? No. Alex Smith was not having his greatest game throwing the ball with all of the Giants players suffocating him. Smith had to run out of the pocket for his life.

It is so easy to point the finger at one player, but it is not that simple. The 49ers played a very sloppy game overall, especially from the offensive side. They were only able to complete one out of 12 on third-down conversions. How are you supposed to create a scoring drive if you get three-and-out every time?

The Niners' defense was stopping the Giants from scoring, but they were still giving up too many yards in the air. Defense cannot always win you games. The offense needs to put up points to back up the great defense. This is the real reason why the Giants won the game—because they were working from both sides of the ball.

After the game and the next day, all you heard was about the fumble and the ball hitting his knee. It was all over social networks saying it was his fault that "we" lost the game.

I did not know we fans played for the 49ers.

Why can't fans just look at this as "the Niners had a great run"? I guarantee that no one thought that the Niners would make it this far or even make it to the playoffs, for that matter.

The Niners had a great run and will grow from this loss. What does not kill you will only make you stronger. With this loss the Niners are stronger. There is still need for improvement and work to be done.

So before you put the blame on one player, you should put the blame on yourself, for calling out a player and saying all these hateful things. It happens in sports, and no one can control it. Think of what you say before you say it. How bad do you think he must feel, that the Niners could have been in the Super Bowl if it not for him?
