Former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi will hope to get one step closer to another title shot when he takes on former UFC fighter Mike Kyle at the upcoming March 3 show in Columbus, Ohio.
The bout was confirmed through sources at MMAFighting.com. It will be the co-headliner to a main event between Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey.
Mousasi is 32-3-2 overall with all but four of his wins coming by way of submission or knockout. His only loss in the past five years came against Muhammed Lawal, who he lost to by unanimous decision. His wins include those over Thierry Sokoudjou, Renato Sobral, Mark Hunt, Ronaldo Souza and Melvin Manhoef.
Kyle will enter the fight with a 19-8-1 record with 12 of his victories having come by way of knockout. He has experience fighting in the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions, and was also the first man to stop Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante.
The winner of this bout is likely to face Cavalcante for the title later this year.
Other bouts on the main card include Paul Daley vs. Josh Thompson, KJ Noons vs. Josh Thompson and Sarah Kaufman vs. Alexis Davis.
