FC Barcelona Transfer Rumours: 7 Players Linked to Barca
FC Barcelona have arguably been the best club team in the world in the past three years as they have accumulated plenty of trophies including two Champions League titles. This Blaugrana team have been very dominant on the pitch and have enjoyed immense success under Pep Guardiola. Guardiola is one of the best managers currently and will understand that they need to adapt and keep improving in order to remain as the best club in the world.
He has also continuously tried to refresh the team by bringing in quality players to the Nou Camp, thereby increasing competition for places and getting the best from his players. Also, one of the weaknesses in the past for Barcelona was their lack of squad depth, but Guardiola has ensured that they do have a very good squad and has also promoted talented youngsters who have had a good start to their Barcelona careers like Thiago Alcantara and Isaac Cuenca.
The Blaugrana manager is very astute and will always be looking to improve his team for the future. Though they might not make many signings in this January transfer window, they could always look to make a move for the some of their transfer targets in the summer as well. This article is on seven players who have been linked with a move to the Camp Nou in the future.
Lucas Moura (Sao Paulo)
Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas Moura is one of the best young prospects in the world and the Brazilian international has been tracked by some of the biggest clubs in the world. According to this report on Tribalfootball.com, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in the attacking midfielder. It is clear that he is a player with a lot of talent and if properly developed, he could develop into a world-class midfielder.
According to that report, Lucas will not come at a bargain price and could cost as much as €30 million. However, he is one of the best talents in the world and though both teams have some great attacking midfielders, Lucas could still be a good addition to the sides.
Alex Song (Arsenal FC)
Barcelona have arguably the best midfield players in the world in terms of quality, which is one of the reasons why they have been very successful under Pep Guardiola. They have world-class players in the first team and some very good players in their squad as well. Seydou Keita may not be a regular in the team but is efficient on the ball and has always been a very reliable midfielder for the Blaugrana. However, with his future uncertain, Guardiola might look to sign Arsenal's Alex Song in the future.
Song has developed into a very good player in the last couple of seasons and along with his defensive skills, he has also worked on his technique and offensive play, contributing some important assists as well to the team. If the Gunners finish outside the Champions League places, then there is every chance that Song could leave the club to join his former captain, Cesc Fabregas, at Barcelona.
Ravel Morrison (Manchester United)
Manchester United teenager Ravel Morrison could be on the move away from Old Trafford after failing to reach an agreement regarding his new contract according to the Daily Star. The Manchester United midfielder is considered to be a huge talent but with lack of playing time for the first team, he could move away from United. Also, he has been made to train with the reserves and has voiced out his frustration in the past.
With Paul Scholes also returning to bring stability to the Manchester United midfield till the end of the season, it further reduces Morrison's chances of playing in the first team this season. Morrison is considered to be a real talent but it will be difficult to harness it because of his attitude. Despite his problems, Barcelona and many other clubs have been linked with the midfielder and it will be a superb piece of management if Guardiola manages to get the best out of Morrison.
Jordi Alba (Valencia)
Valencia have had some very fine players playing for the club over the years and Jordi Alba is another talent who has done very well for the club. The left-back, who can also play as a midfielder, has been impressive for the Spanish side in the last couple of seasons and his performances have not gone unnoticed as the Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque has given him chances to start as well. He does have a decent chance of making it to the Spain side for the Euro 2012 and is a player of immense potential.
Barcelona could make a move for the 22-year-old left-back considering that Maxwell has left the club to join Paris St. Germain and, also, Abidal is also 32 years of age. Alba could be an astute signing from the Blaugrana because of his versatility and he would provide quality depth to the team as well.
Theo Walcott (Arsenal FC)
Theo Walcott was signed by the Gunners from Southampton when he was a teenager and though undoubtedly talented, he has been frustrating on a plenty of occasions. The speedy winger has lacked consistency despite making over 200 appearances for the club. It is evident that Arsene Wenger does have faith in his talents considering that he has started him in plenty of games in the last two seasons and has also backed him always to do well.
However, the winger's contract is only till 2013 and he is yet to sign a new contract extension. Though Wenger will be reluctant to sell him, he is also not likely to let him go for nothing and Barcelona are apparently interested in the Arsenal winger. Pep Guardiola has a superb array of attacking talents and Walcott's pace could be helpful to them while unlocking defenses, which is why he could be targeted by the Barcelona manager.
Gareth Bale (Tottenham)
Tottenham have become one of the strongest teams in the Premier League and they do have some excellent players in their team. Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Emmanuel Adebayor, among others, have been excellent and integral to their brilliant attacking play this season. Bale has been outstanding for Spurs in the last couple of seasons, as he has proven himself to be one of the best wingers in the world.
He can play in different positions in midfield and also at left-back as well. Bale could be the next Premiership star targeted by the Blaugrana after they managed to sign Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas in the last summer. Bale would provide great pace on the counterattack for Barcelona and will also provide depth in the left-back role where he can be utilized by Pep Guardiola.
Hulk (FC Porto)
FC Porto have some excellent attacking players in their side and Brazilian forward Hulk is one of their best players. The powerful striker can play centrally or on the wings and is always an immense goal-scoring threat. Hulk's physicality, movement and ability to clinically finish in front of goal make him such a big threat and along with Radamel Falcao, he was their most potent attacking threat in the last season, as well as they won the Portuguese League and also the Europa League.
According to this report on Goal.com, Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola is yet to commit himself to a new contract but will do so if they manage to sign Hulk in January or the summer transfer window. It will be difficult to seal a deal for Hulk because he has a huge release clause of €100 million in his contract, which will be difficult to meet for Barcelona.
