Tonight at UFC on FX 1, Pat Barry was able to make a big statement as he defeated Christian Morecraft by knockout in the first round.

Barry was in desperate need of a win after going 1-3 in his last four fights before tonight.

Although Barry was taken down a few times in the fight, he was able to show great submission defense as he escaped a rear naked choke attempt as well as an arm lock.

After getting back on his feet, Barry was able to catch Morecraft with a punch that sent him to the canvas.

Barry then pounced on Morecraft, finishing the fight with ground and pound.

We know that Barry is an excellent striker.

But at just 5'11" and lacking top-level wrestling, Barry will almost always come into a fight as an underdog against the elite in the division.

Regardless, Barry is one of the most entertaining fighters in and outside of the Octagon.

With many of the lower-level UFC heavyweights booked up already, Barry may be waiting a little while for his next opponent.

Some fun matches for him in the future could be the loser of Chad Griggs vs. Travis Browne or Mark Hunt if he can get past Cheick Kongo
