Dark Match

Skip "Ryback" Sheffield defeats Tyson Kidd.

I don't know what the WWE is waiting for when it comes to re-debuting Sheffield or "Ryback." Does anyone know what his official ring name is? And what does "Ryback" even mean? I checked it online and I just got a bunch of people with the last name Ryback. Also, in the movie Under Siege, Steven Seagal plays a guy whose name is Ryback.

SmackDown

World Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan walks down to the ring and verbally cuts the Big Show down to size. He insults the big man for what he did to his girlfriend A.J. last week and says that he should retire. There are heavy boos coming from the crowd. Not Attitude-era heavy, the boos are PG heavy, and by that I mean that half the audience is booing and the other half (kids) just staring into oblivion.

Cody Rhodes defeats Justin Gabriel.

The Intercontinental champion was supposed to have a match with Hornswoggle for some reason, but Justin Gabriel came out to defend the little guy. I don't know if this is going to be an upcoming feud or just one match but, in either case, Gabriel is not walking away with the title. Cody is too hot right now to drop it to anyone in my opinion.

This is Roulette night because whenever the WWE is in Las Vegas it's Roulette night. Does anyone know how they rig it to stop on a certain option? My guess is that they have a counter weight on the opposite end, so the heavier side always ends up at the bottom of the wheel and the lighter side ends up on top (where the little needle is). Either that or a person in the back stops it.

Mark Henry spins to see what his championship match with Daniel Bryan will be. And it's a Lumberjack match. I honestly hate these matches because adding 20 jobbers and mid-carders around the ring does nothing for me. They just beat up the guy and throw him in the ring. Eventually everyone gets involved and the match is ruined. Knowing how Daniel Bryan is being booked I could see him inciting a riot only to escape with the title.

The new WWE Tag Team champions, Primo and Epico defeat the only other tag team, the Usos.

Evan Bourne is out for sixty days and if he fails another test he will be fired. But why in the world would he smoke after being suspended for a month? Did he think that they weren't going to test him that soon after his suspension? He can't be that stupid, and that's why I think he wants to be fired. Vince and Johnny Ace have been known to hold onto guys that are asking to be let go (example Matt Hardy, MVP, Carlito...).

Brodus Clay defeats Vickie Guerrero in a dance-off.

What would be a good new tag team?

From what I understand Vickie tried to dance but was stopped by William Regal who tried to walk her to the back. Clay then began to insult Regal who ran down to the ring and was destroyed by Clay. This is "How to Kill the Crowd 101."

This is the problem I find with WWE programming. There are two audiences that the WWE has to keep happy. There is us, the televised audience that wants an evolution of the story and a general progression of last week's events in a relevant and rational manner. Then there is the live audience that is there to drink a few beers, laugh, cheer and make sure their kids have a fun time. Sometimes the things the two audiences want overlap and sometimes we get a dance-off.

Wade Barrett defeats Sheamus in a tables match.

As you may have guessed, this was another Roulette match. Jinder Mahal came out and helped Barrett win, and when the match was done he attacked the injured Sheamus. JiMa (a nickname for Jinder that I'm sticking with) was then put through a table because he is Jinder Mahal and that's what happens to him every week.

Everybody hates Jinder (sung in the form of "everybody hates Chris"). Every match he is in should end with that. Between the nickname and the fun theme I gave Jinder, I feel like I'm doing more for his character than the creative.

Ted DiBiase defeats Hunico in a Flag Match. A flag match is like a pole match, because you have to climb up and retrieve your flag. In other words, it's a terrible idea for a match. Is Russo secretly working for the WWE now?

Backstage:

Drew McIntyre is fired by the Smackdown general manager Teddy Long. But the assistant to the general manager, Santino Marella, says that if Drew wins another match he will not be fired. They spin the wheel and it will be Santino and Drew in a blindfold match.

Santino Marella defeats Drew McIntyre with the Cobra.

Are you serious? Are they going to fire him or is this going to be a new trend where Drew is "rehired" only to lose again. What a waste of a talent. I'm not saying that he should be a world champ, but come on! He must have done something to piss someone off.

Daniel Bryan and Mark Henry go to a no contest because the lumberjacks attacked them both.

Did I call it or did I call it? This was a bit of a preview for the Royal Rumble and Sheamus was left standing at the end. All bow down to the High King!

Realistic Royal Rumble winners include Randy Orton, Sheamus, Wade Barrett; Kane, Dolph Ziggler and the Miz. John Cena has a match with the Rock at WrestleMania and they aren't giving Alberto Del Rio another Rumble win.

Dark Match

Daniel Bryan defeats the Big Show in a Steel Cage match.

Smackdown rating: 7/10. Good show but not great by any means.
