Andy Roddick: Why A-Rod Won't Win Another Grand Slam Championship
During a time of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, it must be terrible to be Andy Roddick.
While he is one of the better players of this generation, his career is practically indistinguishable from many of the other Johnny-come-lately’s. Despite an amazing start to his career in which he dominated the sport like none other in 2003, his career has become nothing but a place holder.
The once-heralded savior of men’s tennis in America has become a caricature of himself over the years. The tantrums and quips with which Roddick once amused us are now simply annoying.

So, why won’t he win another Grand Slam championship?
Not only is the star on the cusp of being 30 years old, he hasn’t been the dominant player he once was. But while all of that’s true, there is another reason.
Roddick can’t win big matches.
Since the 2003 US Open victory that catapulted him to stardom, the American has failed at every attempt to bring home another Grand Slam title. At this point in his career, Roddick's body is slowing down and the drive to excel is no longer there.
It’s time for the tennis A-Rod to hang the racket up.
As much as this terrifies many players, 30 is the age in which tennis players lose their edge and star to go downhill. Look at Roger Federer and all the other legends like Pete Sampras and Andrei Agassi: all saw their play decline as they entered their 30's.
With Roddick’s talents mostly overrated anyway, the likelihood of him stealing a Grand Slam at this point of his career is slim to none.
Sorry, American tennis fans: you’ll have to find another savior.
