Liverpool have agreed to a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Carlos for a reported £1 million.

A product of the hugely successful Sporting Lisbon Academy, which has produced the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani, Carlos reportedly caught the eye of manager Kenny Dalglish after impressing in the NextGen Series.

Carlos, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Sporting Lisbon, has been compared to Portuguese international Deco and scored against the Reds in the Champions League style youth competition last year.
