Predicting the Top 5 College Football Recruiting Classes
College football recruiting season is heating up, and many of the nation’s most highly-touted prospects have already signed with their schools for next fall. With just a couple of weeks remaining, it’s time to start speculating on which schools will bring home the strongest classes of incoming freshmen.
As last year’s recruiting season proved thoroughly, these rankings will be fluid up to and even beyond next month’s National Signing Day. Jadeveon Clowney, the prize of the 2011 class, didn’t commit to South Carolina until weeks after signing day had come and gone.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of late commitments could be Ohio State, already climbing the rankings behind standouts like 5-star defensive end Noah Spence. With the recruiting pull of high-powered new coach Urban Meyer in full swing, the Buckeyes will be major players in the home stretch of the recruiting trail.
For now, though, they look like they’ll come up just short of the best classes in the nation. Take a look at this collection of the schools likely to bring in the best hauls of freshmen in 2012.
