WWE Opinion: Why Vince McMahon Seems to Be Pressing the Reset Button

Vince McMahon has always been known to love the ratings, perhaps to the point of panicking when the viewership is down. The recent title changes seem to be very evident facts that this is happening again.

The tag team titles and the United States Championship have both changed hands in the past two days. Now the tag titles could easily be written off because of Evan Bourne failing another Wellness Policy test. Though this is true, the house shows had been building to a title change the week before. It is no surprise that the change happened since many believe that Evan had been getting a lot of negative criticism from multiple guys in the back.

The United States Championship was a big surprise to most last night. Zack Ryder seemed to be a fan favorite and made all of the Internet happier when he gained the title at Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2011. Jack Swagger won the U.S. Championship last night on Raw in what was a very short match. Even after the match when it was learned that Ryder should not have competed, John Laurinaitis did not overrule the decision.

The U.S. Championship change comes on the heels of what was the lowest-rated segment in recent Raw history. Last week we all watched, or perhaps didn't watch, as Ryder fumbled around trying to change a tire to get away from the monster Kane. This would lead me to believe that Vince was not happy with the numbers and brought the hammer down on Zack first and foremost.

The World Heavyweight Championship is on the line on Friday Night SmackDown this week. Though it would be rather shocking to see the championship change hands, it would not be the strangest thing in the world. The way things are looking is that there will be a whole crew of new champions by the time the Royal Rumble goes on the air.

Vince McMahon loves wrestling and loves the WWE business, but when Vince does not see ratings to back up the moves that have been made he quickly pulls the plug. Whether this is right or wrong only a person who has actually run a multimillion-dollar company can tell. Vince has pulled the plug on many a title run in his time at WWE though, which is why the current pull and exchange of titles should not come as a surprise.

The one thing that people can do to help their talent, though, is to buy the merchandise and support them by actually watching the show. There will be a lot of people who complain about the title changes as they occur, and yet these people will sit on a computer and had not watched the show for months. If you are willing to complain on a computer, then you should also be willing to support the talent and make sure that these bad ratings do not happen.
