Shawn Green: Right Fielder, Super Jew

Sarah BraunsteinCorrespondent IApril 26, 2007
IconLast year Shawn Green announced that he was exicted to join the Mets so he could play in front of Jewish fans. (read about it here )

Well, it seems that the Jews got his phone number and now he's got to put his money where his mouth is.

Green is participating in a fundraiser for the UJA Federation of New York whereby he will donate $180 for every run he bats in this season.

Those of you interested in the numbers game will note that last season Green batted .257 with 15 RBI. This season he is hitting .351 with 13 RBI in only twenty games.

I think it's hilarious that the UJA clearly waited to see how Green would begin his season before they started the campaign.

If you want to, you can go to the UJA website and sign up to match a certain number of his RBI donations.  Or you can remember that you watch baseball because it's baseball, and forget about this stupid publicity stunt.
