On special occasions, Vince McMahon brings celebrity guests on WWE Monday Night Raw, and given his recent obsession with the Internet and Twitter, someone with an Internet presence such as Perez Hilton makes for a perfect candidate to appear on Raw.  At least, that's what Vince thinks.

WWE.com braces the WWE Universe for Perez's guest appearance:

WWE Universe, don’t miss Perez Hilton’s special appearance on tonight's Raw SuperShow! He'll be the guest ring announcer for the Divas match.

The celebrity gossip blogger – who has mentioned he’d like to get in the WWE ring with John Cena – was recently put through Diva Boot Camp in Hollywood with Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox and Eve. The Divas are his newest guest bloggers on Fitperez.com, his web site focused on fitness, health, wellness and celebrities.

I can hear the universal groan all the way from my keyboard, and it's justified.  For all the blatant Twitter pandering, hashtagging and WWE Social peddling, there has not been such an obvious grab for Internet attention as bringing Perez Hilton on Raw.

I can't really argue with bringing any mainstream name on Raw to potentially pull in new eyeballs, especially when you consider the recent ratings trend, but is Perez Hilton where the line needs to be drawn?
