Broughton's Fav Five: Top 5 Guys to Win the WWE's Royal Rumble

0 of 7

Hello folks and welcome to the first edition of Broughton's Fav Five! The concept is simple. I take a topic such as the Royal Rumble, and choose the five guys I think should win it.

As I said, this week's topic is the Royal Rumble. With the big pay-per-view coming up, I have begun to give thought to whom I think should win it. The following slides will show my opinion on the favorite for the 2012 Royal Rumble!

Enjoy and don't forget to comment below at the end!

Honorable Mention: Randy Orton

1 of 7

2011 was great for Orton. He had some great matches, and even pulled off the feud of the year with Christian. Now, he is putting young heel over and was doing great until a few weeks ago. During a match with Wade Barrett, Orton took a tumble down a flight of stairs, injuring his back. It is still unclear whether or not Orton will be back in time for the Royal Rumble.

If Randall can in fact make it to the Royal Rumble, he has a huge chance of winning. With a Daniel Bryan heel turn in the works, a feud between the two would be great for WrestleMania. Plus, the Royal Rumble is in Orton's hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. The Viper has a good opportunity of winning the Rumble but I still question if he will be ready in time.

No. 5: The Miz

2 of 7

The Miz's career has been a bit of a roller coaster if you ask me. He started out as a talk show host, raised up to tag team champion/U.S. Champion, hit the main event scene as WWE Champion, then dropped down into obscurity before tagging with R-Truth.

It's been a long, winding road for the loudmouth from Cleveland. However, it seems as if The Miz may be on his way back to the top. I thought he was entering a feud with CM Punk the weeks coming up to TLC, but that didn't pan out. He now is in a rivalry with former friend R-Truth. Due to the fact that Truth was recently suspended, I think The Miz will come out the victor if they end up having a match.

The only issue with this rivalry is that it probably won't end by the Royal Rumble. I could easily see R-Truth entering and eliminating The Miz to further their rivalry possibly to Elimination Chamber or maybe further. I like The Miz, and his rivalry with Truth is interesting, but it may hinder his chances at this year's Royal Rumble.

No. 4: Cody Rhodes

3 of 7

Not too long ago, Cody was my favorite to win the 30 man battle royal. However, rumors then surfaced about Goldust returning and a match up between the two at WrestleMania. While it is possible for this match to take place at the Royal Rumble, I think WWE will stretch it out to a showdown on the grandest stage of them all.

Cody is one of the top rising superstars in WWE today. His in-ring skill is outstanding, and he can talk a good game as well. However, he is another man who has a feud that hinders his opportunity to win the Rumble. I certainly would love to see it, but WWE may have different plans for the cocky young stud.

No. 3: Sheamus

4 of 7

The Celtic Warrior started out his career as a dominate heel on Raw. He beat John Cena fairly to win his first WWE title, and it seemed as if he would be on the top of WWE forever. However, he soon fell into obscurity and was sent over to Smackdown. Then came his face turn, since turning into Mr. Good Guy. I can't remember a time where Sheamus lost clean. He is just dominating everyone.

I am a huge fan of Sheamus. He is good on the mic and can put on a great match. His shot in the Royal Rumble is just about as good as anybody's. One thing that Sheamus has lacked is a good rivalry. An opportunity for a Major Title at WrestleMania would certainly give him a rivalry.

No. 2: Wade Barrett

5 of 7

Barrett is another guy who was dominant upon his debut. He started out as the leader of Nexus and looked to be on his way to the WWE Championship. However, that never happened and he eventually lost control of the Nexus. He then moved over to SmackDown and tried to recreate the Nexus with the Corre, but failed miserably. He was drowning at the mid card and seemed as if he would never recover.

However, then came the Barrett Barrage! Over the past few months, Wade has been on a roll. He even got a clean pin on Orton at WrestleMania. I could see a situation where Wade wins the Rumble, then Orton returns to win the Elimination Chamber, creating a matchup between the two at WrestleMania. It would make sense and the match would be good. I am a fan of Wade and wouldn't mind seeing the Barrett Barrage taking control of the Royal Rumble.

No. 1: Chris Jericho

6 of 7

Y2J is back! He has come to save us all once again. Though he hasn't even spoken a word, I already view him as the favorite to win the Royal Rumble. He is already supposed to be facing CM Punk for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania so it would make sense. The idea of Jericho winning has even been brought up by the creative team.

Y2J is simply awesome. He puts on amazing matches and is one of the best on the mic. A rivalry between him and Punk would be amazing. I, for one, would love to see Chris walk out of the Royal Rumble as the victor. Right now, Jericho is at the top of Broughton's Fav 5 to win the Royal Rumble!
