Did anyone see Rousimar Palhares at the weigh-ins? Every time I see him he looks like he has more bulk on his already bulked-up frame. He's built like a brick, but that won't deter Mike Massenzio in their fight on Saturday night.
Palhares is coming off a decision victory of the veteran Dan Miller, while Massenzio is also coming off a decision victory.
This matchup is interesting because Palhares has stepped up his stand-up game to go with his ferocious submission game. In his fight with Miller, you could see that he is finally getting some power out of all those muscles, so that bodes very badly for Massenzio.
Massenzio was able to turn the tides on Steve Cantwell in his last fight, but it's hard to imagine that he is ready for a submission ace with the type of strength and power that Palhares has. Add that to the fact that Palhares is fighting at home and has the support of his fans, and it seems very unlikely that Palhares will walk away a loser.
The only person that seemingly can defeat Palhares in this fight is Palhares himself. He's been known to be a little mentally unstable and can lose focus in fights at times. However, if he has his head right, which he most likely will, Palhares should take out Massenzio with another submission victory to add to his resume.
(Second-round win for Rousimar Palhares by heel-hook)
