Since the controversial return of Y2J Chris Jericho to WWE RAW two weeks ago, many wrestling fans have been speculating on when The Undertaker will make his return to the WWE. Fans predicted that the “It Begins 2012” vignettes that aired on WWE programming were overtures that the “Dead Man” was the man behind them. But when Chris Jericho was revealed as that man, a lot of questions about Taker’s return were left unanswered.
WrestleMania 28 is just a few short months away, and the Royal Rumble is right around the corner, but the WWE Universe has not heard hide nor hair of The Undertaker. Could Chris Jericho’s return be connected with The Undertaker? Some wrestling fans would say no, but this could be a preamble to a potential showdown between the two Goliaths of pro wrestling.
Over the past two weeks, Chris Jericho has appeared in front of the WWE Universe and literally has not said a word. Jericho is the master of manipulation, and he has something up his sleeve. That sleeve could reveal a plan to take out The Undertaker, once and for all.
The window for Taker’s return is slowly closing, if any decent build were to take place before WrestleMania that is. If The Undertaker is planning on returning to the WWE for the big event, the Royal Rumble is the best place for him to make that return. The Rumble is the first stop on the Road to WrestleMania, and what better place for The Phenom to emerge and pick up where he left off.
There has been some talk amongst the Internet wrestling community that Jericho is in the prime position to win the Royal Rumble. This scenario could go one of two ways; Jericho could be eliminated out of the Rumble match at the hands of The Undertaker’s emergence. Or Jericho’s real plan is to not enter the Rumble at all, but to lie in wait for Taker. Jericho could try to take him out completely, or he may issue a challenge for a match against Taker at WrestleMania.
When wrestling fans watch the “It Begins 2012” vignettes, the real message could be Jericho’s plan to destroy The Undertaker. To end the iconic WrestleMania streak, a feat that no other WWE superstar has been able to do.
Jericho is going to be at the Royal Rumble, but what role he will play? No one really knows. It is more than mere coincidence that the return of Chris Jericho has nothing to do with absence of The Undertaker. There are very few WWE superstars left who can pose a legitimate threat to Taker’s WrestleMania streak. Chris Jericho is one of them.
If The Undertaker has his sights set on Chris Jericho for a possible match at WrestleMania, there is no doubt that he will make it known to Jericho and the WWE Universe. This match will instantly be the highlight of WrestleMania, and without a doubt a match of the year contender.
