The January transfer window brings in wild rumors for all soccer clubs, but when you're one of the most high profile teams in the world in arguably the most competitive league in the world, you tend to get more than a few rumors swirling around this time.

If you listen enough, you'll hear the wildest claims and it can be difficult to determine what transfer rumors have a chance of becoming reality and which are just hot air stirred up by fans. Luckily if you've found this article you're about to have a little more clarification regarding all things Chelsea during the winter transfers.

Here are the top six rumors surrounding the English club, and I'm here to tell you which are fact or fiction.

Fiction: Hulk

Chelsea has made no secret regarding their wishes to sign the Brazilian sensation Hulk from FC Porto, but even they won't be able to pry him away from his current team this winter.

The Times of London reported back at the end of December that Chelsea would be willing to break the British transfer record by signing the Porto man for 84 million euros. However, Hulk would explain less than two weeks later of his plans to not force a move from his current club, at least not until the summer.

Fact: Marek Hamsik

Despite his questionable choice in hairstyling, Napoli star Marek Hamsik is one of the talks of the English Premier League this winter, with Chelsea and Manchester City heavily interested in his services.

Hamsik is currently in negotiations with his current club on an extension, but has encouraged the Blues to make his agent an offer. The Slovakian midfielder told Radio CRC "If Napoli received an offer from Barcelona, Chelsea or Real Madrid, it would be logical to accept".

Essentially Hamsik has told those three clubs if you make the offer, I'm all yours. Now all Chelsea needs to do is pay his Italian employer.

Fiction: Kaka

While there's no question Chelsea would have loved to get a deal done bringing Real Madrid's Kaka to the EPL sporting blue, the deal is all but dead.

The Brazilian footballer's agent came out with a rather detailed statement to Metro explaining that "Kaka doesn't believe in winter departures."

The Real Madrid years have not been kind to Kaka, with multiple injuries sidelining the playmaker and rumors of his departure have been swirling since the summer, but it appears that Chelsea fans will have to wait until the weather gets warmer to think about luring the Brazilian to their side of London.

Fact: Edinson Cavani

Napoli may be just weeks away from losing two of their greatest offensive threats but becoming much richer financially if Chelsea has their way.

The Italian club has striker Edinson Cavani priced at 35 million euros according to the Daily Mail with The Sun reporting back in December that Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has been given 150 million to spend on both Cavani and his Slovakian teammate.

Fiction: Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain to Chelsea rumors huh? Well then it must be the winter season.

Higuain has been on the Blues radar for quite sometime, especially with his current club Real Madrid having him play second fiddle to Frenchman Karim Benzema.

The issue with Chelsea finally locking up the Argentine football is his agent and father, Jorge Higuain. Jorge believes that the best move for his son is to finish out his contract with Real...which ends in 2016. The father/agent also told International Business Times that he has yet to receive an offer from Chelsea or Italian powerhouse Juventus, who are also interested in his son's services.

Fact: Gary Cahill

Bolton defender Gary Cahill has received the 22 million euro contract from Chelsea and could decide as soon as today whether or not to take the money and run off to London.

According to the East Anglian Daily Times, many believe that Cahill has been stalling on his decision over the past few weeks, leaving the Blues frustrated to say the least.

That being said, I can't see the talented defender not making the move to Chelsea when push comes to shove and both sides will end up happy with the results.
