Billy Corgan and his Resistance Pro Wrestling promotion are putting on their second event, RISE, live this Friday at the Excalibur in Chicago, Ill.

The card will feature appearances by former NWA World Heavyweight champion Colt Cabana, as well as Resistance Pro Women's champion Melanie Cruise. Also on the card will be the Daivari Brothers, Teddy Hart and the crowning of the first Resistance Pro Heavyweight champion.

Corgan, the frontman and creative force behind the alt-rock supergroup Smashing Pumpkins, launched the promotion with Gabriel and Jacques Baron last November with their inaugural event, Black Friday.

In an interview with Nathan Kyght for PWTorch, Corgan said that Resistance Pro was going to be about "new ideas, and wrestling done the right way.”

Concerning the promotion and the grapplers it would feature, he added  “We’re going to build talent up and give them a place where they can hone their skills, and it’s going to be New School mixed with Old School, in that we’re going to take time with things. We’re going to have longer angles and let things develop that way, and it’ll just be a unique situation where we just talk to these guys, you know? Find out about them and let them talk, and do a promo."

An avid wrestling fan, Corgan was unable to attend the Black Friday event due to a Smashing Pumpkins tour, but he will be in attendance for RISE. He will present the winner of a triple-threat match between former WWE Superstar Harry Smith (formerly David Hart Smith), The Sheik and Kevin Steen with the heavyweight title belt.

The event will be an all-ages show. Information and a teaser video for the event available on the promotion's web site, resistancepro.com
