Redshirt freshman receiver Kyle Prater has decided to take his talents away from Southern California, ESPNChicago.com reports.
The former five-star recruit is strongly looking at three Big Ten schools in Illinois, Northwestern, and Wisconsin. Illinois could be considered a front runner, seeing as how it was one of the three schools that Prater officially visited during his recruiting days.
After two injury-plauged seasons, the verdict is still out on whether Prater will be too fragile to continue his career in the Big Ten.
Two things must happen in order for Prater to move Illinois' way.
First, new Illinois head coach Tim Beckman needs to convince the former stud that he has confidence in Prater and will utilize his talents if he does decide to suit up in the Orange and Blue.
Second, Prater must in turn convince Illinois that he is not an injury risk and that his past injuries have just been unfortunate coincidences.
Prater has what it takes to be and elite receiver, not only in the Big Ten, but also on the national stage. Only time will tell if he is willing and able to do just that in the coming months and years.
