According to the New York Daily News, the Yankees are going to announce the signing of star First Baseman Mark Teixeira as early as Tuesday. He is not officially signed yet, as he has to take a physical on Monday.

This is exciting news, as he adds more power to the Yankees' bats, which was surprisingly inept last season, and can protect Alex Rodriguez as he looks to come back to his 2007 form.

Yankees also needed him, as Jason Giambi will not be wearing pinstripes in 2009. Tex is not bad at fielding either. He won two Gold Gloves in 2005 and 2006 when he was a member of the Texas Rangers.

He agreed to a $180 million dollar contract for eight years, with a five million dollar signing bonus, and with no trade clause.
