Arsenal Transfer Rumours: 10 Strikers Who Could Replace Robin Van Persie

0 of 10

It would be tough for Arsenal to find a replacement for Robin Van Persie after this season, but there are always options.

Arsene Wenger may not be able to find a player of similar skills and qualities, but that may not be a bad thing.

Mikel Arteta was signed to replace Cesc Fabregas but not necessarily expected to emulate him, yet his contribution to the team's success has been evident.

If Arsene Wenger can find someone who would be able to have that same effect in the forward line, then Arsenal needs not fear.

Here are some possible replacements for Arsenal's Robin Van Persie.

Moussa Sow

Moussa Sow is next in line and has no shortage of suitors. According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham and Arsenal are looking to sign the Senegalese forward soon, and in the past he has expressed an interest in signing for Arsenal.

Sow has 10 goals and three assists in 25 games this season.

Lukas Podolski

2 of 10

Lukas Podolski has been strongly linked with the Gunners since the summer window. A January bid looked likely at one point but—as the Metro reports—this summer a bid may be made.

Podolski has 14 goals and seven assists in 18 games so far this season.

Matias Suarez

According to, Arsenal's interest in Matias Suarez has increased and may be made formal soon. Unfortunately for Arsene Wenger, it does not seem as if such a move will happen in January.

Suarez has set the Belgian league and Europa league alight with 14 goals and 10 assists in 26 games.

Loic Remy

Arsenal has been interested in Loic Remy in past years and—according to—that interest has been revived recently.

Remy has been a productive player for Marseille and has a likeness to Thierry Henry in his playing style. He has scored 12 goals and added five assists in 26 games so far this season.

Olivier Giroud

5 of 10

Olivier Giroud's proposed transfer price is a bit ridiculous. At that amount Giroud would never be sold. He has been linked with Arsenal, and Arsene Wenger may just find him to his liking.

He has 15 goals and five assists in 20 games so far this season.

Seydou Doumbia

Seydou Doumbia was reportedly interested in a January move to Arsenal late last year. He has scored in bunches for Russian team CSKA Moscow, and he seems to be an intriguing goal-scoring prospect.

If he were to join Arsenal he would have another Ivorian, Gervinho, to make his adjustment easier. In his last season with CSKA Moscow he had 35 goals and nine assists in 41 games.

Hugo Rodallega

7 of 10

Hugo Rodallega seems a very logical option for the Gunners if Arsene Wenger is truly interested. He is the only player on this list used to the Premier League, and he is young and could be brought in at a cheaper price than the rest.

The Colombian forward has been linked with Arsenal a few times this season despite his lack of goals.

Alexandre Pato

The transfer fee alone makes a deal like this seem unbelievable, but according to, Arsenal are interested in Alexandre Pato.

Pato could be a good long-term option if he manages to stay injury-free and Arsene Wenger helps him realize his full potential. He has three goals and four assists in 13 games this season.

Leandro Damiao

According to Mirror Football, Leandro Damiao has been touted as another forward target for Arsenal. The Brazilian forward has attracted a lot of attention with his goal-scoring exploits in Brazil, and he has claimed a place in the country's national squad.

Last season he scored 18 goals and added 10 assists in 37 games for Internacional.

Luuk De Jong

Arsenal could try to replace the Dutch hitman with another Dutchman, Luuk De Jong. The young FC Twente striker has been in sparkling form this season and has his fair share of suitors.

De Jong has expressed his interest in a move to the Premier League. Last season he was in the double digits in both goals and assists, and he has already repeated the feat. He has 16 goals and 13 assists in 31 games so far this season.
