Liverpool Planning Ligue 1 Swoop?

1 of 8

Word from across the channel today is that Liverpool have been busy in France. According to reports in French newspaper L'Equipe, Liverpool are keeping tabs on 24-year-old Dijon midfielder Benjamin Corgnet and are expected to make a bid.

Aston Villa, Newcastle and Blackburn have also expressed interest in Corgnet, who has scored seven goals in 18 league matches.

Demba Ba to Anfield?

2 of 8

Everybody is after Demba Ba these days. It's not hard to see why, after that performance he put in against Manchester United.

Liverpool are among the potential suitors for Ba, the Senegalese forward who joined Newcastle last summer. The Reds emerged as a possible destination after word leaked out that Ba's release clause is a mere £10 million (since then it's been suggested that the clause might be even less).

Ba leads Newcastle with 15 goals this season, all in the league. That total is good for second in the Premier League behind Arsenal's Robin van Persie.

Darren Bent Latest

3 of 8

The Darren Bent-to-Liverpool saga has been pretty much straightforward.

The rumour emerged on New Year's Day, with Liverpool reportedly ready to bid £24 million for the 27-year-old England international forward.

The denials and finger-pointing gushed forth in the following days.

Now, apparently, the move is dead. And in fact, Villa manager Alex McLeish is claiming Liverpool were never interested.

Funny that we're not hearing that straight from Kenny Dalglish.

Where To, Luis?

4 of 8

Liverpool's Luis Suarez is the badboy of the year in England. But on the continent he's apparently a wanted man.

Wanted, that is, by some of Europe's biggest-money clubs.

According to the Daily Star, Suarez is about to be the subject of a £30 million tug-of-war among Real Madrid, PSG, Inter Milan and Juventus. The Daily Star reckon a deal could be arranged for Suarez to leave Liverpool in the summer.

Suarez, 25, joined Liverpool from Ajax in a £24 million deal last winter. He is serving his eight-match ban for being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

Reds Chasing Colombian Forward?

5 of 8

Jackson Martinez is a 25-year-old Colombian international forward who plays for Jaguares in the Mexican Primera Division. According to the Daily Mail, he's in talks over a move to Liverpool.

According to the report Porto are also interested and are close to agreeing a fee. Jaguares reportedly want £8.5 million for Martinez, who has appeared 10 times for Colombia.

Reds in Hunt for Teen Starlet

6 of 8

Liverpool are reportedly in the hunt for teen starlet Nathan Redmond of Birmingham City.

Redmond, 17, is also a target of Manchester City. According to reports, Birmingham will demand £12 million for his transfer this winter.

Redmond, a winger, became Birmingham's second-youngest player on his debut in August 2010. He has represented England at the Under-16, -17 and -18 levels.

Nikica Jelavic Latest

7 of 8

Depending on who you read, Rangers forward Nikica Jelavic is either flattered by or incredulous about his rumoured move to Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail and others, Jelavic is "flattered." According to ESPN, he doubts Liverpool are actually interested. You decide.

Jelavic, a Croatian international, joined Rangers in 2010 from Rapid Vienna. He scored 16 league goals in his debut season and has bagged 12 so far this term.

Sunderland and Everton are also reportedly interested in Jelavic, though a rumoured QPR offer never happened.

Eric Abidal on a Free?

8 of 8

Hard as it is to believe, it might be true. With contract negotiations stalling between Eric Abidal and Barcelona, Abidal could be available for a free transfer in the summer.

That's the word that's floating around the Internet today. In this report from Metro, Liverpool and Manchester City are identified as potential transfer destinations for Abidal, who is a French international defender.

Abidal, 32, has also been linked with Arsenal. Of course he could also stay with Barcelona.
