The Philadelphia Flyers may have dodged a bullet on Friday afternoon.

After a nail-biter of a game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center, Kimmo Timonen was seen wearing a wrist brace.

Timonen left the game midway through the first period, and returned briefly in the second period before leaving the game for good. When asked on the status of Kimmo after the game, Paul Holmgren told reporters that he would be re-evaluated on Friday afternoon and the team would go from there.

Well, the news is finally out.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Kimmo Timonen is officially listed as day to day with what is obviously a wrist injury. The injury stemmed from a shot Kimmo blocked during the Winter Classic on January 2. The fact that Timonen is listed as day to day seems to suggest that the injury may not be as serious as many initially thought, which is great news for the Flyers.

After the devastating loss of Chris Pronger for the remainder of the season, Kimmo Timonen has been the cornerstone to the Flyers' blue line. Losing him would be devastating for the Flyers.

Timonen, who has currently played in 223 consecutive games, may have to break his streak and take a seat for a few games to heal, but for Flyers fans, it's good news.

In other news, the Philadelphia Flyers have put defenseman Matt Walker on waivers. Most likely, Erik Gustafsson will be called up in his place, but it remains to be seen if Gustafsson is game ready or not. He was still experiencing some pain in his wrist earlier in the week.

Do you think waiving Walker is a set-up move for a trade?

Waiving Matt Walker will clear $1.7 million off the cap, and could be a set-up move for a potential trade. Whatever the case, I'm sure any Flyers fan saw this one coming.

As I've said before, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Flyers make a trade sooner rather than later, although I don't expect any big moves until the deadline. With Walker cleared off the cap, it gives the Flyers more wiggle room to add a guy like Tim Gleason to their blue line, and give the Flyers some stability.

We'll see what happens, but as for Timonen, don't expect to see him play in the home-and-home this weekend against Ottawa.
