College Basketball, NC State Basketball, UNC Basketball

I'm torn.

Of course it’s enjoyable to watch the Tar Heels beat up on the hapless NC State Wuffpack year after year.

At the same time, this makes for a pretty boring basketball game.

I think of a rivalry as composed of two competitive teams who battle it out every season.  Both teams must have something to offer the sports world.  Both must have impressive winning resumes.

In order for NC State to remain a true rival of UNC, the team must get its act together.  Otherwise, they’ll have to openly declare their inferiority to the Tar Heels.

If NC chooses the inferior angle then fine, we’ll stop making fun of the backwoods ways of the Wuffpack faithful.  It's no good to kick a man when he's down, you know?  Instead we’ll just be joyful to play them in a nice game.

On the other hand, if NC puts effort into major improvements, then come on!  I want to recreate the days of the big, festive UNC-NC State game.  I want to enjoy making fun of them, like in the good 'ol days.

They have now brought back Sidney Lowe.  Maybe Chris Washburn or Cozell McQueen will come back as assistant coaches?  That would provide plenty of material.

Maybe I am just dreaming.

Like they say, if you can't go to college, go to State!
