It is 2012 and there is no better way to start the year then with the opening of a transfer window. January will bring a month of madness, speculation, departures and acquisitions as teams look to bolster their title credentials, save their seasons or simply cement their position.
Last year's January transfer window included such madness as Fernando Torres' record £50 million move to Chelsea from Liverpool, who the Reds immediately replaced with the £35 million signing of Newcastle and England striker Andy Carroll. Whether January 2012 will boast the same excitement remains to be unseen.
Arsenal, unfortunately, despite the presence of the January transfer window, did not start the New Year happily. A surprise 2-1 loss to Fulham marred the New Year celebrations. Nonetheless, it furthers Arsene Wenger’s need for reinforcements in January. For once, the Frenchman is expected to make winter signings, with injuries, the African Cup of Nations and £50 million at his disposal enough to convince him.
Indeed, for once, Arsenal fans may be witnessing some big-money moves for some big-name players, but that is still uncertain. Nonetheless, Bleacher Report will keep you up to date with all the Arsenal transfer rumours.
