There are many options out there for the Mets in the starting pitching section.  Free agent pitchers such as Derek Lowe, Randy Wolf, and Jon Garland are all great pitchers who might be on the Mets roster for Opening Day in 2009.

On Saturday night, Mets General Manager, Omar Minaya, spoke about the Mets on the new MLB Network. He mostly discussed the team's off season success and which people he is interested in.

When Omar was asked what pitchers he is looking into, he said he was interested in Derek Lowe, Randy Wolf, and other free agent starting pitchers.

I was shocked when Omar did not mention Oliver Perez by name.  This could be a big sign that the Mets may not be interested in bringing back their former starting pitcher.

So, is this goodbye to Oliver Perez?  Maybe it's time for a change.  Omar seems a little more interested in Lowe than Perez.  Omar even seems more interested in former Astros pitcher Randy Wolf.

I am not 100 percent positive that Olly will not be back in a Mets' uniform for '09, but Omar just opened up a whole new can of worms with his appearance on MLB Network.
