WWE News: Major Heat on Evan Bourne, Confrontation with HHH

Anyone notice that since his return from his 30-day suspension for violating the WWE Wellness Policy last month, current WWE Tag Team Champion Evan Bourne has been keeping a low profile on Raw and Smackdown? Heck, they''ve been on C-show Superstars more than they've been on either of the main shows.
Indeed, despite serving his time, it seems the popular and talented high-flyer is still in the doghouse. There are apparently a couple of reasons for this.
First of all, during his time off, a frustrated Bourne unwisely took several digs at the company on his official Twitter account, which could not have endeared him to those in management. This is WWE, after all, a company which strongly believes in keeping a united front and not having people slam or criticise the promotion in any public forum, whether it is interviews or Facebook/Twitter.
Aside from this, there is also reportedly another reason for the shoddy treatment of Bourne and his tag partner, Kofi Kingston, in recent times (who, alas, seems to be an innocent victim in all this, being punished by proxy for the actions of his partner).
As has been noted in the past, Bourne's suspension was not without controversy, with speculation about why R-Truth, who was reported to have been smoking the marijuana substitute Spice along with Bourne at a party, was not suspended until Nov. 22, almost four weeks after Evan was.
As Dave Meltzer explains in this week's edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a lot of heat on Bourne from management right now for being the reason the R-Truth story got out, something they could not have been happy about it, as it called into question the legitimacy of their entire drug policy. The thorny situation even culminated in an unhappy Triple H confronting the young wrestler backstage about it:
Bourne was confronted by HHH a few weeks back and blamed him for the story about R-Truth’s suspension being for spice getting out, as well as how they were doing it together and the delay in R-Truth’s suspension. R-Truth was announced as suspended after the post-Survivor Series Raw, where they did an injury angle to explain his absence. There is heat for the perception that somehow this was Bourne’s fault that the story got out. It wasn’t, although the perception would be such since Bourne complained about how it was possible for him to be suspended when the guy doing the exact same thing wasn’t.
Interestingly, Meltzer notes that by complaining to Dr. Black at the time regarding how he was suspended and R-Truth wasn't when he was doing the same thing, Bourne may have ensured it ending up becoming the talk of the locker room (thus leading to it being leaked to the news sites/publications), hence why HHH was furious.
Although it should be noted that since Bourne and R-Truth where at a public party when they were apparently smoking the substance, the story, and the glaring contradiction of Bourne being suspended by Truth escaping punishment, may have spread quickly anyway.
Meltzer also goes on to talk about Bourne's future prospects in WWE, and notes that while he has the all-powerful Stephanie McMahon is his corner, he still faces an uphill struggle in the giant-obsessed WWE:
HHH is not a fan of Bourne but Stephanie thinks he brings something unique to the table. But even with her support, there is fear or at least whispers in the company that he’s about to become the next Paul London, a super talented guy who is going to be completely broken mentally by the system.
Certainly, as a smaller wrestler, Bourne will face more issues than most, and this most recent heat can't help matters. Nor can getting on the wrong side of Triple H, who not only holds tremendous backstage power now, but is being positioned to run the company one day when Vince steps aside.
Can Bourne did his way out of hole he is in and go on to have a successful WWE career? Who knows? But maybe staying off Twitter would be a good start.
