Premier League defending champions Manchester United were stunned by bottom-feeder Blackburn on Saturday, 3-2.
On Wednesday, Newcastle's Demba Ba stunned them again before they suffered their second straight defeat, falling behind rival Manchester City in the process.
At the 32-minute mark, a long ball found Ba after a header and he swung it home, perfectly placed in the left corner with brilliant touch.
It was the start of a storm for United, who ended up losing in embarrassing fashion, 3-0, capped off by United defender Phil Jones' own goal.
City is now three points ahead of United in the standings. United simply doesn't look like a defending champion right now.
The 3-0 score on Wednesday wasn't a fluke. They looked disjointed and unorganized and allowed a less talented team to embarrass them.
Now United must face City on Sunday in the third round of the FA Cup. City is obviously looking good with the league lead. They pushed Liverpool aside, 3-0, on Tuesday and are currently looking like they could not only beat United, but also do so convincingly.
United better wake up fast. Their Premier League defense is in jeopardy and they need a big win. There couldn't be a much bigger win than Sunday against City.
