Bengals News: Cincinnati Slaps Franchise Tag on Stacy Andrews

The Cincinnati Bengals have made guard, Stacy Andrews, their franchise player. Tendering him the requisite one-year $7.5 million offer that ensures the Bengals can match any offer to Andrews, or receive two first-round picks from any team that might sign the guard.
Commentary: This is a bit of a surprise because it means the Bengals are either not interested in retaining defensive end Justin Smith, or they think they will re-sign him before free agency begins Feb. 29. Odds are he'll be free.
Fantasy Football Impact: This move is expected to help the Bengals keep their line from deteriorating any more than it did in 2007. They were a great pass-blocking team, but their run blocking was just average.
