Stars win, force Game 7

Few teams have done it.  Only 10% of the time has a team come from down three games to one to force a game seven in the NHL playoffs. Tonight the Dallas Stars became part of the exception, rather than their history of being the rule.

I didn't think they'd do it... And the way things were going in the first-round series with Vancouver (not to mention recent playoff performance), you'd be hard pressed to find a Stars fan who believed.

Tonight, 18,600 people at the American Airlines Center in Dallas and the rest of Stars fans now believe.

Mike Modano finally - FINALLY scored a goal in this series, and it would stand up as the game-winner. Jeff Halpern added an assurance goal later, and it was a "Marty Party" from there.

If the Stars lose game seven in Vancouver, there's one thing that can't be said - Marty Turco choked in this series. The Stars three losses were by one goal each, and two were in overtime.  That's not the goaltender, that's the offense/opposing goaltender.  Roberto Luongo has been impressive, as has the Canucks penalty-kill.

But Marty Turco has three shutouts in this series - in the Stars' three wins. That's the sign of a goaltender who may have exercised his playoff demons.  Then again these two teams had an exchange of one-goal victories during the regular season.

We'll see what happens in Game 7, but I'm just glad to see that Marty is coming through in the clutch - at least in this series.
