Every time I turn around it seems like someone is saying, “we have to find a receiver opposite of Steve Smith."
It makes my stomach turn whenever I hear or read that phrase.
My thought as is many of my Carolina Panther fans is, one man does not make a team.
But wait!
The Bears just released Muhsin Muhammad. The super talented wide receiver the Panthers let go after the 2004 Super Bowl season is available. Hmmm...could we make a Super Bowl team with two great receivers like everyone is saying?
Could I be wrong that it would only take two? Come on now, you know and I know that it takes more than two super receivers to make a Super Bowl team.
Panther management made a horrible mistake letting Muhsin go to Chicago. Does anyone remember why Muhsin left? He was due a ten million dollar roster bonus management didn't want to pay.
The record-setting pro-bowl receiver who teamed up with Smith on many occasions was let go. And what has happened to the Panthers since?
They've had mediocre seasons.
It seems that Hurney and Fox were content with .500. And then J.R. stepped up and invited the boys to the lake house and had a talk.
In my previous article with regard to bringing Alge Crumpler to the Panthers organization I asked, 'should we bring in an older player as a starter with a less resilient body'?
With no major injuries and no known major arthritis in his knees we can and we should bring back Muhsin.
Come home 'Moose', come home.

That's just what the Panters need. Let's build the team with aging free agents who left us for more money. Let's bring back Sean Gilbert as well, God told him to make $100 million, he's available. While we're at it, let's bring back Beuerlein or Collins as well as Biakabatuka. They are all available. Seifert is still around, there's your offensive coordinator. We are forgetting all of the reasons why we let Moose go in the first place. Yes, the bonus is one issue, but the other is he was only an average receiver until contract time came around. There's a reason that Moose is injury free..he won't jump for a high pass, and when he does go over the middle, there's no chance of any YAC's because he catches and drops like a baby in the fetal position. There are many younger and better players that we could nab for the same money. Unless we could get Moose on the cheap and still get a quality #2 receiver, I say let some other team have him. We would be nuts to offer him a fat contract when we have so many other holes to fill. There is a reason why Chicago is letting him go.

Bringing back Moose WOULD be a good idea, if nothing else he's a solid slot receiver that has previous chemestry with Jake. I might remind you of another "aging" free agent that happend to come to Carolina and have the best season of his career as well as take us to a superbowl.....thats right I refer to Stephen Davis. Its not about how old or young you are if you fit well in a system then age has fewer limitations and seeing as Moose has had no major injuries I say bring him back and let him help take some of the pressure off Smitty and give Jake another target as our current receiving core is useless (except Smith)

If he signs for a cap friendly contract and is used as a third receiving option then I would have no problem with it. Football, especially the NFL is a business and I don't blame him for signing for more guaranteed money. He would be a good mentor for Jarrett and he already has chemistry with Jake and Smith.
I think we should also still look to fill the WR void with an additional, younger option for the second receiver position.

I have to say tha I agree...big time! From the sounds of it, he is healthy. I would love ot see him come "home" to Carolina and retire a Panther. I think he could help Steve Smith majorly!
