David Amerson Video: Watch NC State Star's Dazzling Pick 6 in Belk Bowl
NC State's David Amerson made a great play on an errantly thrown pass by Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater in the Belk Bowl.
Then he went to work.
Amerson dodged the entire Louisville team—some of them twice—as he patiently made his way to the end zone.
The sophomore CB zigged and zagged his way through traffic and across the field before collapsing in the end zone with a 65-yard interception return.
This amazing return was about far more than just Amerson; it was a team effort. As soon as he got his hands on the ball, his teammates instantly got their blocks on. Defenders hustled and looked for someone, anyone to block.
As Amerson made his way downfield, he was greeted by a convoy of protectors.
The fact that these guys automatically knew what to do when Amerson picked off the pass is not surprising. Interceptions are commonplace for the standout CB.
That was Amerson's 12th pick of the season, and that interception set the ACC record for INTs in a season. The record was formerly held by Dre Bly.
However, NC State's record setter was not content with just that one spectacular pick. He added another one near the end of the game to help seal NC State's 31-24 victory.
Amerson has a bright career ahead of him, but he is going to have a hard time coming anywhere near the production of this season—if for no other reason than the fact that teams are going to stop throwing in this ball hawk's direction.
